The University Libraries offer a number of copyright-related services and resources for faculty members engaged in research or in classroom teaching.

Instructional support

The Libraries offer support for issues regarding copyrighted classroom and instructional materials in a number of ways:

Scholarly communications and research

Information and resources related to scholarly communication, as well as information on UNCG's own scholarly communication services and publishing initiatives, including:

  • Author Rights: Discussion of author rights issues regarding publication and reuse of your copyrghted works.
  • Open Access Publishing: Open Access literature is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. What makes it possible is the internet and the consent of the author or copyright-holder. The University Libraries offer support for open access publishing and also publishing platforms, including NC DOCKS, our institutional repository, and Open Journal Systems, an online system for publishing peer-reviewed journals.
  • NC DOCKS: An open-access database for collecting, preserving, and disseminating the scholarly and creative works of UNCG's faculty and students. More information about publishing via NC DOCKS is available here.
  • Open Journal Systems: An online platform offered by the Libraries for the publication of peer-reviewed journals.

Digital Projects

The Digital Projects unit offers consultation on the copyright aspects of digitzing and publishing primary source, archival, and some print materials.
